Federal troops at this event will portray the 151st New York Volunteer Infantry, which was assigned to the Army of the Potomac, French's Third Corps, Carr's Third Division, Morris's First Brigade; other regiments in the same brigade included the 14th New Jersey and 10th Vermont. The 151st New York suffered some of the highest casualties of the campaign, losing 53 men in battle at Payne's Farm. The three regiments of Morris's brigade sustained the greatest losses of all Federal regiments engaged in the campaign.
The 151st New York was recruited in the summer of 1862, predominantly in rural Niagara County in western New York State. After the Mine Run campaign, this regiment was transferred to the Sixth Corps, where it saw hard fighting in the campaigns of 1864 and 1865.
