  News
And so we begin a new reenacting year, 2002. In the weeks and months ahead, as we plan our activities and events and refine our understanding of the Manual, we need to look back and reflect upon our accomplishments. Reenacting a difficult life, that of the CW infantry soldier, is itself a difficult experience at times. With limited resources, we are expected to rise to the challenge of recreating so many facets of an age old existence for which we have at best, only fifth hand knowledge. But, as a reeanactor, look back and take account of how far we have come; how much we know and how much we have recreated: from clothing to musket, music to dress parade to Sibley. It is a tremendous investment, a gift which we can receive freely from the veterans in our ranks, contribute to for a while, and then pass on. The ones who will carry our very muskets 100 years from now will have built upon the lessons we are only assembling today. The subject of the American Civil War is so vast, so wide and deep, as to be overwhelming, where every topic is open to a seemingly eternal, unresolvable, sometimes maddening debate. In the face of this, perhaps it is valuable to remind ourselves why we choose to engage this activity, rather than spend quiet time with our families, or upon simpler hobbies and personal pleasures. We have an interest in the American Civil War experience that cannot be satisfied by quiet reading, inspection of monuments, or by the digging of relics. We have a desire to make the experience a fresh one, born with the rising of the days sun; a memory only as distant as the day is long. To smell the wool, tobacco and gunpowder, to hear the cadence and the rammers ring in the bore. Within these experiences we feel a kinship to those who we claim to represent. And it is these experiences that we must inspire into those who have not yet discovered our hobby, but who will carry on the banner after we are gone. And it is by this accumulated knowledge borne to action and passed through the generations, that we honor General Jackson and the men of the Stonewall Brigade.
( I stole this from 33rd Va. Co. E  Newsletter ) I thought it was great piece and that you guys would like  it.

Brigade NCO School/ Meeting Jan 19th
Claudio, Harold and myself attended, the command school  went as planned but the Brigade meeting was  cut short due to weather. The Brigade did pass both of the new uniform adjustments (Frock Coat, diff Type II) which is all good. The rest of the agenda will be taken care of at Winter Camp.

Picking which  event to attend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Co. H  (by-laws)  Membership requirements
A) Dues for the unit are set  at $35.00 per year and must be paid in full to the treasurer by March 15th of that year.
B) Members are to attend  (5) sanctioned unit events per year.
Having said this please help your unit out this year and attend events, this unit is going to grow and we want you to be part of that.
It makes it more difficult to grow when the membership doesn’t support it’s unit.
Please go over the list above choose at the very minimum:
(1) Spring Drill ( Mandatory Event), (2)Sharpsburg, (3) Page County Heritage, (4) Manassas NPS, New Market or Front Royal (5) Sky Meadows / Fort Delaware  these events we need you to attend if you choose no other.

Sgt. Benedi and 2nd Lt. Stidley's Approach to 2002 duty in the field.
We would like to implement a new policy for all members that want to play in the field.
All members are required to attend all drills at the company level as well as the Brigade level.
It’s not fair to me, Claudio, Harold  or anyone else when we read, practice, drill and spend massive hours trying to prepare ourselves  for an event while others just show up two minutes before going into battle and expect to be treated the same as everyone else.
Co. H can’t  tolerate such behavior!!!!!!!
We understand there will instances where people can’t make a drill know and than, but in general you should be prepared to do any and all drills.
Members not complying with this policy will be asked not to participate in that days activities.
Remember were trying to portray a Confederate Military unit and not a  Militia unit.
I hope all of you take this to heart and support your unit and Brigade
