Company E, 2nd Virginia Infantry is a living history association dedicated
to accurately portraying soldiers and civilians of the American Civil War.

Members of the modern day Company E attempt to re-create the experiences of the typical Confederate infantryman in the Army of Northern Virginia. Clothing, equipment, tactics and the personal thoughts and feelings of the soldiers are researched. Company E is a member of the Stonewall Brigade and Jackson's Division. We participate, along with our pards from the other Stonewall Brigade units, in battle reenactments and living histories from New York to North Carolina. Our goal is to learn about this time in our nations past, pass on what we learn and have fun doing so.

Company E has fought alongside other members of the Stonewall Brigade from the 125 Anniversary events to the present at events like 1st Manassas, Cedar Mountain, McDowell, Gettysburg, Third Winchester, Cedar Creek, Saylor's Creek, Monacacy, The Overland Campaign, Sharpsburg, Chancellorsville, and many others. Company E has also participated in conjunction with the NPS and the Stonewall Brigade at demonstrations and living histories at Antietam, Gettysburg and 2nd Mannassas. The Company is an advocate of Civil War site preservation and attempts to frequent events that donate a portion of the proceeds towards preservation.

Although our company stresses uniform and equipment authenticity, as well as close adherence to Gilham's Manual for Volunteers and Militia, we try to remember that we are all students of the Civil War and reenacting and are open to the research, suggestions and experience of others in our hobby. Research by members of the company is encouraged as new and interesting information is constantly being brought forth.
